Structural polymers are very susceptible to damage in the form of cracks, which are
normally induced deeply within the structure where detection is difficult and repair is
almost impossible. In protective coatings it can lead to serious corrosion and thus
great threat to substrates. Many approaches have been developed for healing cracks in
polymers, glasses, and concretes for several decades. |
