In this paper, low density polyethylene (LDPE) and high density polyethylene (HDPE) were dissolved in decahydronaphthalene and then ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) fibers reinforced cable was prepared using the solution impregnation method. The effect of solution concentration and various resin matrices on the strength of the cable were discussed. The tensile strength of the composite cable was analyzed by Weibull statistics. The calculation results showed that the optimal mechanical property of the composite cable could be achieved when the concentration of LDPE solution was 20% or the concentration of HDPE solution was 6%, and HDPE resin was more suitable for composite cable. |
