Eastman completes plasticizer expansion at Estonia site
Eastman Chemical Company announced it has completed an expansion of its "Benzoflex" plasticizer line at its site in Kohtla-Järve, Estonia. The expansion increases the production capacity by 11,000 metric tons at the site. The benzoic acid derivative, which the company produces in Estonia, is a benzoate ester plasticizer used in adhesives, sealants and caulks, and is also used in PVC applications such as vinyl flooring. The chemical company acquired the plasticizer product line earlier this year by buying Genovique Specialties Corporation. According to Ron Lindsay, executive vice president, Performance Polymers and Chemical Intermediates at Eastman, the additional capacity will allow to meet the growing demand for plasticizers.
