Valspar to acquire Australian paint maker Wattyl
U.S. paint and coatings producer Valspar has agreed to buy Australian paint maker Wattyl Ltd. for approximately USD 124 million and also assume its existing debt. The Australian company distributes paints to retail customers through home improvement centres and hardware outlets and to trade customers through a network of 140 company-owned stores. The transaction is subject to approval by Wattyl shareholders and regulatory authorities. The deal will help Valspar build on its presence in the Asia-Pacific region and presents new opportunities for growth. Under the deal, Wattyl will hand over its 30 % share of the domestic paints market to Valspar.
