Highly Efficient Synthesis of Ladder-Type Small Molecular and Polymer based on BN-Heteroacene

Ladder-type BN-heteroacene (16-hexadecyl-6,9-diphenyl-6,9,10,16-tetrahydro-5H-benzo[5,6][1,2]azaborinino[4,3-b]benzo[5,6][1,2]azaborinino[3,4-h]carbazole, 4) and the polyheteroacene (P2) consists of ladder-type BN-heteroacene units were obtained with high yields by using a Pd(0)-catalyzed Suzuki reaction followed by ring-closure with PhBCl2. The BN-heteroacene and polyheteroacene show good solubility in common solvents. Their solutions emit strong blue and green light in tetrahydrofuran, respectively. Thermogravimetric analysis results indicate that the thermal stability of the ladder-type BN-polyheteroacene is high. The electrochemical properties of BN-heteroacene and polyheteroacene were also investigated.
