Awhollyaromaticpolyesterpolymerizedwith4,4’-diphenyloxidedicarboxylicacid(DODA),4-acetoxybenzoicacid(ABA),hydroquinonediactate(HQA),2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic(NDA)andterephthalicacid(TA)wasmeltspunintothermotropicliquid-crystallinepolymer(TLCP)fibersatthetemperatureofabout305℃,followingheattreatmentinvacuumenvironmentatabout280℃for24h.ThethermalpropertiestheTLCPfiberswereinvestigatedbydifferentialscanningcalorimetrty(DSC)andthermalgravimetricanalysis(TGA).Themorphologyofthefiberswasinvestigatedbyscanningelectronmicroscopy(SEM)andthemechanicalpropertiesweredeterminedbythefibertensiletester.ItwasfoundthatthepolymercouldbespunintoverythinfiberbyspecialdesignedquenchingdeviceandthefibertensilestrengthandYoung’smoduluscouldbegreatlyimprovedbyheattreatment.
