Polyacrylonitrile(PAN)fiberswerepreparedbymeltspinningusingaspecificplasticizer,whichwouldbeusedasprecursorsforthemanufactureofcarbonfibers.ThefiberspreparedatdifferentdrawratioswereinvestigatedbymeansofXRD,SEMandmechanicalpropertiestesting.SEMimagesindicatedtheas-preparedPANfiberswereroundwithoutskin-corestructure.ThemechanicalpropertiesofPANfiberswerestronglydependentonthedrawratios;thecrystallinityandorientationofPANfibershighlyincreasedwiththeincreaseofdrawratios.Hence,throughsuchproperstretchingprocess,theas-preparedfiberscouldusedasprecursorsforthemanufactureofcarbonfibers,whichwasbeneficialfortheproductionofhigh-propertyandlowcostcarbonfibers.
