Thepaperpresentsanapplicationofinfraredthermographytothedeterminationofthedissipatedheatduringfibercold-drawingprocess.Mainlywithintheneckformationandpropagationphase,thetemperaturegradientcanbemaintainedconstantintheneckingregionbygivenextensionrate,whichisakeyparametertothedissipationheat.Assumingadiabaticdrawingintheneckingprocess,internalenergychangeassociatedwithdeformationmechanismcanbecalculatedbyathermodynamicmethod.Theresultsshowthattheinternalenergyincreasesmonotonicallywithtimeandthefasterincreaseofinternalenergywillbeassociatedwiththehigherdrawingrate.
