Asaclassicaltwo-dimensional(2D)nanoscalestructure,graphenepossessesremarkablemechanical,electrical,thermalandopticalproperties.Inthepastseveralyears.considerableattentionhasbeenpaidtodirectlyutilizeindividualgrapheneasbuildingblockforhighperformancenovelmaterials.Onthisway.productionofmacroscopicarchitectureswithcontrolledmicrostructuresusinggraphenesheetsasbuildingblocksisanimportantsteptowardpracticalapplications.Tothisend,variousmacroscopicgrapheneassemblieswereproducedincludingIDgraphenefibers,2Dgraphenefilmsand3Dgrapheneassemblies.Thesestructureshavedemonstratedpotentialapplicationsinvariousareas9suchassupercapacitorelectrodes,transparentandflexibleelectrodes,tissuescaffolds,catalysts,andgassensors.Inthiswork,2Dand3Dgraphenebasedmacroscopicarchitectureswerefabricatedbasedonself-assemblymethod.Theresultingmaterialsshowvarietiesoffascinatingfeatureswhichcannotbeachievedbyconventionalmaterials.Forinstance,2Dgraphenefilmshowsstrainhardeningeffectundercyclicloadingandunloading.Togetherwiththeirgoodelectricconductivity,thisfilmshowspotentialasanoveltypeofbiomimeticactuators.Inaddition,the3Dgraphenefoamscouldnotonlyactasalarge-scalestrainsensor,butalsoactuators.
