Janusparticles,akindofnewpolymercompositewithspecificmorphologyandcomposition,havegainedgrowinginterestsfortheirsuperiorperformancesfromtheiranisotropiccompositionandstructures.Itishighlyrequiredtodevelopafacileandgeneralmethod,bywhichsize,chemistry,andshapeoftheanisotropicparticlescanbesimultaneouslycontrolled.ThesefactorsdeterminethepropertiesofanisotropicJanusparticles.Similartohydrophile-lipophilebalance(HLB)ofsmallmolecularsurfactants,thetermof“Janusbalance”isintroducedtodescribethehydrophile-lipophilebalanceofanisotropicparticles.1ItishighlyexpectedtocontinuouslycontrolJanusbalanceofanisotropicparticles,whichisimportanttodeterminetypeandstabilityofemulsionswhentheyserveassolidemulsifiersandnewsuparmolecularcomplexstructureswhenasbuildingblocks.
