Thetemperature/glucosedualstimuliresponsivenanocapsuleswerefabricatedinafive-stepprocess.Firstly,thecolloidalsilicaparticlesobtainedbysol-gelmethodweremodifiedby3-(trimethoxysilyl)propylmethacrylate.Then,thesilica/poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)(PNIPAM)core/shellstructurednanoparticleswerepreparedbycolloidaltemplatepolymerizationusingthesilicaparticlesastemplates.Subsequently,crosslinkedpoly(acrylicacid)wasincorporatedintothecrosslinkedPNIPAMshellofsilica/PNIPAMnanoparticlestoforminterpenetratingpolymernetwork(IPN)structure.Lateron,phenylboronicacidgroupswereintroducedintotheirshellsbythecouplingreactionbetweenthecarboxylicacidgroupsofPAAcomponentsand3-aminophenylboronicacidsusingcarbodiimideascatalyst.
