Membraneseparationtechnologyhasbeengreatlydevelopedandwidelyusedinfieldsoffood,petrochemical,medicalandwatertreatmentinthepastdecades.Inthisexperiment,theboehmitesolsandmixedsolscontainingPVAwerefirstlypreparedbythesol-gelmethod.Thenthesolsweredepositedonα-Al2O3poroussubstratesbydip-coatingmethod.Aftersintering,thecompositetubularmembraneswithsmoothandcrack-freestructurewereobtained.Themorphologyofcross-sectionandsurfaceofthecompositetubularmembranewerecharacterizedbySEM.ThestructuresofthesolswereinvestigatedbyXRDandFTIR.TheresultsshowthatsmootherandthickerseparationlayerswithoutparticlecanbesuccessfullyobtainedbyusingmixedsolscontainingPVA.Thecompositetubularmembranesarecomposedofα-Al2O3poroussubstratesassupportedlayerandγ-Al2O3denseseparationlayerontheoutersurface.
