Sincetheintroductionofnanotechnology,nanoparticleshavebeenextensivelyusedinpolymermatrixcompositesasreinforcements.Thus,researchonthemechanicalperformanceofnanocompositeshascontinuouslyattractedgreatattentionwithinboththescientificandengineeringcommunities.Inrecentyears.theeffectsofsilicananoparticlesandrubbernanoparticlesonthestaticfracturetoughnessofbulkepoxieswereinvestigatedinourpreviousstudy.Itwasfoundthatrubber/epoxycompositeshavehightoughnessandrubber/silica/epoxyhybridcompositespossesswell-balancedelasticstiffnessandfracturetoughness.Asengineeringmaterials,nanocompositesareoftensubjectedtocyclicloadingconditions.Besidestheirstaticmechanicalproperties,theirfatigueproperties,suchasfatiguelifetime(S-Ncurve),fatiguethreshold(AKtriorAGtri)andfatiguecrackpropagationrate(da/dN),arealsoofgreatimportance.Inourpreviousstudy,S-Ncurvesforun-notchedsmoothsampleswereobtained,whichshowedthatthefatiguelifeofepoxywasincreasedbyaddingsilicananoparticlesbutdecreasedbyaddingrubbernanoparticles.Amorerecentworkonthefatiguecrackgrowthofnanoparticlemodifiedepoxyreportedthatthefatiguecrackgrowthratesda/dNofalltestedsamplesobeyedParispowerlawandshowedfatiguethresholdsAGtri.SilicananoparticlesincreasedAGtriofneatepoxybutrubbernanoparticlesdidnot.However,bothnanoparticlesdecreasedda/dNatgivenAGintheParisregimecomparedtoneatepoxy,thoughsilicananoparticleismoreeffectivethanrubber.Followingabovesystematicexperimentsonthefractureandfatigueofnanoparticlemodifiedepoxy,thispaperisaimedtopresentaquantitativeanalysisonthefatiguelifeofnanoparticlemodifiedepoxy.Differenttougheningmechanismsobservedfrompreviousexperimentswillbeconsideredinthenumericalpredictionofthefatiguelifeandthefailuremode.Themodellingandthesimulationmethoddevelopedfromthisstudywillbeverifiedbyexperimentalresults.
