Airgaptrappedbetweentheinnersurfaceofgarmentandthehumanbodyskinhasbeenamajorfactordeterminingthehumanbodyheattransfer.Duetothecomplexgeometryofthehumanbody,thesizeandthedistributionofairgapswerenotevenlydistributed.Fiveexperimentalgarmentsmadeofcottonwithgraduallyincreasingatbreast,waistandhipgirthsweretested.A3Dbodyscanningsystemwasappliedtomeasuretheairgapsthatexistbetweenthedifferent-sizedgarmentsandfemalebody.Bysuperimposingthe3Dscanningpicturesbeforeandafterdressing,theairgapthicknessesweredeterminedwiththeRapidformsoftware.Furthermore,aninfraredthermalcamerawasusedtoquantifygarmentsurfacetemperaturetoinvestigatetherelationshipofairgapthicknessandgarmenttemperaturedistribution.ThecombinationoftwoNon-contactmeasuretechnologieswasanovelwaytoinvestigatetheeffectofairgapsonclothedhumanbodyheattransfer.
