Functionallyhydrophilicnanofiberscaffoldsofpoly(ε-caprolactone)(PCL)andpoly(vinylpyrrolidone)(PVP)withdifferentweightratioswereelectrospunwithamixedsolvent,tetrahydrofuran(THF)andN,N-dimethylformamide(DMF)(80/20,v/v).Theaveragediameterofelectrospunfibersrangedfrom780nm2μm.AnincreaseinPVPcontentresultedinadecreaseintheaveragediameter.ItwasinterestingtofindthatalowcontentofPVPcouldgreatlyenhancethehydrophilicabilityoffiberscaffolds.Furthermore,cellattachmenttestsbyculturingmousefibroblastcellsontheelectrospunfibrousmatsshowedthattwoscaffolds,frompurePCLand50/50PCL/PVP,supportedcelladhesionandspreading.However,cellsculturedonthe50/50PCL/PVPscaffoldsshowedhighervitalityandwereimprovedinteractionwiththepolymericfibers,suggestinganincreasedabilitytoadhere.
