Thethermalandmechanicalpropertiesofnewsoybeanproteinfiberandsoybeanprotein/PVAblendfiberarecomparedandanalyzedbyTGandDSC.Newsoybeanproteinfiberhasnotheglass-transitionandobvioussofteninginDSCtests.Initialdecompositiontemperatureis306.6℃,bothhigherthanthoseofsoybeanprotein/PVAblendfiber.Afterheat-treatingat170℃for30min,thestrengthandelongationofsoybeanproteinfiberare16.19%and10.65%lowerthanthoseofuntreatedfiber,respectively,whicharebetterthanthoseofsoybeanprotein/PVAblendfiber.Theheatshrinkageratioofsoybeanproteinfiberinboilingwateranddry-hotairare0.58%and0.52%,respectively,whicharequitelowerthanthoseofsoybeanprotein/PVAblendfiber.Theheatresistanceanddamp-heatdimensionalstabilityofsoybeanproteinfiberarebetterthanthoseofsoybeanprotein/PVAblendfiber.
