Polypropylenenonwovenshavebeenincreasinglyusedinmanyindustriesduetotheirlowdensityandexcellentphysicalandchemicalresistance.Thelowwateruptake,however,haspreventedtheuseofpolypropyleneinsorptionareas.Varioustechniqueshavebeenusedtoimprovethesorptionpropertiesofpolypropylenenonwovens.Amongthem,coldplasmatreatmenthasproventobeabetterapproachinthesurfacemodificationofPPnonwovens.Inthisstudy,polypropylenenonwovensweretreatedinoxygenplasmaforimprovingthewaterabsorptionproperties.TheeffectsofplasmatreatentonwettingandwaterabsorptionbehaviorwerecharacterizedusingESEManddynamicsorptionmeasurements.ESEMexaminationrevealedthesignificantimprovementofsufacewettabilityofthefibersafterplasmatreatment.Thedynamicsorptionmeasurementsalsoindicatedthewaterabsorptionbehaviorofthematerials.Theinvestigationrevealedthatplasmatreatmentcouldsignificantlyimprovethewaterabsorptionpropertiesofpolypropylenenonwovens.
