Poly(4-methyl-1-pentene)(PMP)hollowfiberswerepreparedtofabricatemicroporousmembranesbyMelt-SpunandCold-Stretched(MSCS)method.Theeffectofthermo-andstretchingtreatmentonthemorphologiesandperformanceofthefiberswereinvestigated.ScanningElectronicMicroscope(SEM)photoswasusedtorevealthegeometricstructureofthesectionandsurfaceofthehollowfibers.Itwasfoundthattheoriginalfibercomposedasandwichasymmetricstructure.A“sandwich”modeisusedtodescribetheformationofthisphenomenon.Then,aseriesofPMPhollowfibermembraneswerepreparedbysubsequentdrawinganditwasfoundthattherewasa“skin-core”structureonthecross-sectionofthesehollowfibermembranes.Gas(oxygen,nitrogenandcarbondioxide)permeationpropertiesoftheresultedmembraneweremeasured.
