Photoacceleratedoxidativedegradationoracceleratedweatheringofisotacticpolypropylene(iPP)compositescontainingdifferentcontentsofTiO2nano-particleswasstudiedbymechanicalpropertymonitoring,Fouriertransforminfraredmicroscopy(FTIR)andscanningelectronicmicroscopy(SEM).ThecomparisonofthephotodegradationofthecompositeswiththatofblankiPPclearlyillustratedthatnano-particlesoftitaniumdioxideintheiPPmatrixexhibitsaphotocatalyticeffectintheartificialacceleratedweatheringtests,andcanbeusedasaneffectivephotosensitizer.BoththespeedofthephotooxidativedegradationandtheinductionperiodoftheiPPcompositescanbecontrolledtoacertaindegreebychangingthecontentofthephotosensitizer.
